Ways to Serve
Ministry Service Handbook Loaves & Fishes The next Loaves & Fishes meal will be held on Sunday, August 10. We will be serving a meal from 2:00-3:00 pm. The following items are needed for the meal:
To donate any of these items, or to help with set-up or serving of the meal, please contact Ann Stein at 262-352-1651. Beloved Senior Parish Member needs Ride to Saturday Evening Mass A beloved, well-known older parishioner needs to give up
driving due to health concerns. He normally attends the Saturday evening
Mass. We are in need of a few Parish families who might be willing to give
him a ride – he lives just down the street in the Capitol School Supplies Needed! Throughout the month
of July, we are collecting school supplies for the children served by the
Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Many of these families cannot afford school
supplies for their children, and we’d like to help out. Backpacks, Index Cards, Rulers, Pocket Folders, Scotch Tape, Scissors, Pencils, Erasers, Pens, Glue Sticks, 3-Ring Binders, Crayons, Colored Pencils, Loose-leaf Paper, Highlighters, Spiral Notebooks, Washable Markers Baskets will be placed in the Narthexes of the Church throughout the month of July. We are especially in need of backpacks!!! Please contribute generously! Funeral Ministers Needed We are in need of a few Eucharistic Ministers for funeral liturgies. Training is provided. Might you be willing to help serve our community and bereaved families? leader positions are open: Youth Newsletter Help We need helpers to put together the summer newsletter. Contact Debbie Olla if you can help the week of June 23-30 and indicate in your message what days and times you're available. Young Adult Committee Young Adults we need you to help form a committee that would be involved in planning and executing events strictly for young adults. Take a moment to pray about being a part of this committee. We need young adults at different stages of young adult life to help focus our efforts on the needs of "all" the young adults at St. Dominic. Please contact Debbie Olla for more details. Swing a Hammer For Habitat! As you may (or
may not) know, Habitat for Humanity Waukesha County is opening a HomeStore
in downtown Waukesha. A HomeStore, like Milwaukee Habitat’s ReStore, is a
retail store that sells new and very gently used building materials to the
general public, keeping tons of construction “waste” out of landfills each
year and raising thousands of dollars to build more Habitat homes. The
donations have been pouring in and the grand opening is right around the
corner, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to the retail
space to get it up and running. If you’ve been looking for a chance to swing
a hammer – or swipe a drywall knife, or use power tools, or roll a paint
roller – Now’s your chance! Habitat is in need of as many volunteers Desperate Need For Volunteer Drivers! Help deliver a hot noon meal to homebound individuals once a week or twice a month who are unable to fix a meal for themselves. There is a critical need in Brookfield, Butler, Hartland, Menomonee Falls, Muskego, Sussex and Waukesha. Individuals, friends, couples, people even help over their lunch time, picking up 8 to 10 meals, delivering them and returning the food carrier and back to work. Mileage reimbursement provided so call 262-548-7829 remembering that going the extra mile has its own reward. Young Adult Team Leaders We are putting together a Young
Adult Team. If you would be interested in helping to build up the Young
Adults in the areas of
Access to Reliable Used Cars Needed! St. Dominic – SVDP
occasionally (1 to 2 times a year) comes across clients in need of a
reliable car. The people we serve might have had a car stolen or currently
have a car that has become too expensive to keep running. Yet they need
transportation for work or family. Do you have a car sitting unused
that you would be willing to store until such a need Adult Workcamp Chaperones For more details contact Debbie Olla, Ext. 252 in the Parish Office. You must be 21+ to attend. Also check out our Group Workcamp photos. Parish Office Receptionists Join our wonderful group of parish center receptionists! If you like to do light office work such as answering the door and telephone or helping with simple office projects, we can use you! We're are currently looking for a few people who have time available on Monday or Friday afternoon from 1:00 -5:00 p.m. once or twice per month. Please contact Barb Schenauer at (262) 781-3480 Ext. 242 for more information or to offer your assistance. The Buildings and Grounds Committee Needs You! The Buildings and Grounds Committee is seeking people with expertise in the following areas: interior architecture, building management, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. We would like to add these areas of expertise to our committee which meets every third Thursday, at 7:00 am, in the Parish Center Conference Room. If committee membership is impossible, we would appreciate your time and expertise as a consultant. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Rich Harter at the Parish Center Office, Ext. 253. Church Cleaners - Fr Dave's "Holy Dusters" Critical Need For Church Cleaners!! Did you know that our beautiful Church environment is cleaned every week by a dedicated team of wonderful volunteers?? We are currently seeking additional people to perform this important task. If you like to do general cleaning and would be available once a month for a few hours, we are looking for you! The cleaning team begins work immediately after the 8:30 am Mass on Monday mornings. It will only take an hour or so of your time. You would only be scheduled once every three weeks! Please contact Rich Harter at 262-781-3480, Ext. 253 if you are interested. Thank you. St. Vincent de Paul Are you being called? St. Vincent de Paul, whose mission is to provide 1-on-1 ministry to people in need, may be just what you are looking for! St. Dominic Parish is an integral part of the SVDP society in Waukesha County and is currently assisting over 70 people from 12 client families monthly. SVDP presents an excellent spiritual growth opportunity for both its clients and members. There are numerous critical ministry opportunities for new members.
