Construction Photos

The parish grounds showed signs of construction in the spring as ground preparation began. Work was difficult as the very wet spring saturated the ground with water.  Progress continued throughout the spring to advance the project.  June construction photos are available on our home page.

Phase One - Master Plan for Capital Improvements Moves Forward
October 16 & 17, 2010

This is truly a moment in God's grace. As a leadership body, we are confident in moving forward because we know we can count on you, the parishioners of St. Dominic Catholic Parish. We can count on your love of your parish, we can count on your continued support of our day-to-day mission through the annual stewardship appeal, and we can count on parish-wide prayers and support for these projects as Together with God We Continue to Build the Faith Community.

May God Bless you and the work we do in His name.

Cost and Funding Update August 2010
Special News Release: August 2010

Why pursue building projects now?
The cost to build will rise over time. Current economic conditions provide an opportunity for competitive bidding that may result in reduction of overall cost.

Being good stewards...
As good stewards of the financial resources of St. Dominic, the Parish Council, Finance Committee, Building Committee, and Faith in Our Future Leadership Team have undertaken a number of initiatives to ensure fiscal responsibility including:
     Reduce Project Costs
Seek in-kind donations of skills and materials
     Explore sponsorships and naming rights
     Limit the amount borrowed

Keeping you informed...
We will continue to keep you informed on our efforts to reduce the project costs and increase available funding. The timing to begin each of these three projects will be determined by our ability to raise the needed funds.  We are committed to bringing these projects to completion in a way that is both financially prudent and supportive of the parish's mission and ministries.

We need each of you to help us in our efforts.  If you are in a position to help through a cash donation, an in kind gift or a sponsorship opportunity, we would appreciate any assistance you can provide.

We continue to be grateful for your ongoing financial support and prayers as we pursue these projects. May God continue to bless each of you and this wonderful community.  We know that together with God, we can build the faith community of St. Dominic Parish.

April 2010
The Building Committee met regularly with Plunket Raysich Architects, Moore Construction, and C.G. Schmidt Construction to further refine the project drawings for the Interior Church Renovation, New Athletic Facility, and the Arts and Activities Center. This was a very thorough process of developing designs that both serve the long term needs of the parish and were realistic from a budget perspective.

The Building Committee has also spent a significant amount of time refining an overall campus site plan and conceptual designs for future master plan projects, namely, the Church Narthex Expansion and School Addition. This work on the overall long-term vision for the campus not only gave focus to our planning, but also allowed us to present the full vision to the City of Brookfield for their information, feedback, and approval.

Along with the City of Brookfield approval process, we also followed a four step Church approval process through the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

The Building and Grounds Vision Area Implementation Teams spent many hours identifying needs, determining potential projects, and helping to create a Master Plan for the St. Dominic campus. The Parish Council approved the Master Plan in March 2008.  These are exciting times for St. Dominic Parish. As a Catholic faith community we are entrusted to build upon the wonderful history of our parish, to serve God by serving each other, and to offer our gifts to strengthen our community today and for those who will follow in our foot.

Building and Grounds Vision 2012 Statement
Our parish campus will be appealing and inviting, well maintained, and updated to meet the needs of our mission and programs.

A review of the current campus (Church, Parish Center, Rectory, School, and grounds) will determine the long-term maintenance needs of our facilities. The team will gain an understanding of current and anticipated needs for space.

Project teams will develop options that best utilize and enhance current space, investigate any potential major remodeling projects, and analyze potential building projects.

All projects will be evaluated and prioritized based on their costs, available funds, and their ability to enhance the worship experience and faith education of all parishioners as well as attracting new members to our faith community.

Plan Objective
Master Plan
The purpose of this document is to delineate the St. Dominic Master Plan for Capital Improvements (Master Plan). The goal is to identify new buildings and improvements to the existing buildings that would not be considered normal maintenance. General overviews of the projects are listed. The final versions of any of the projects would be determined by building project teams consisting of professionals, lay people, and parish leadership. While this is a living document and subject to modifications and additions, this plan is designed to be the road map we follow as funds become available. Final approval for implementation will be the responsibility of the Parish Council, currently installed at the time, with guidance from the Finance Committee, and in accordance with all Archdiocesan and Parish Policies and Procedures. Regular review of the Master Plan is the responsibility of the Parish Council.

Research
In 2006, following the parish celebration of its Golden Jubilee, the Parish Council commissioned a parish planning project called Vision 2012 to develop the principles to guide us into the future. Based on feedback from our parishioners and thanks to the help of dedicated staff members and many volunteers, 12 Vision Statements and corresponding Action Plans were presented and subsequently approved by the Parish Council. Additional discussions with parish leaders and parishioners led the Parish Council to create a team to develop recommendations regarding the buildings and grounds needs for our parish.

Parish Benefits
St. Dominic is a vibrant parish today. It is our sacred trust to ensure it will be in the future. The projects identified in the Master Plan are geared towards enhancing the ministries offered at St. Dominic and that of the greater Church.
