The Who, What, Where, Why and When of the
St. Dominic LEGO Club
2011 - 2012 School Year  

Who: All students in grades 1 - 8 are welcome!

What: Each LEGO club meeting is an opportunity to explore and learn about a new topic and build cool creations. We would like to introduce LEGO WeDo Robotics this year to students in grades 3rd - 8th.  As soon as we finalize our plans with funds and computer room usage, we’ll let you know.  

Where & When: Meetings will take place in the Marcy Center and/or the new PAAC once a month on Monday's. Meetings will be after school from 2:45-4:15.  

What will it cost? The cost is $40.00 a student for 1st - 8th graders. This includes all the LEGOs along with snack and drink for every meeting. There will be an additional fee for those interested in LEGO WeDo Robotics. The amount will be determined by how many students are interested. Please make check payable to St. Dominic School (memo: Lego Club).

Attendance will be taken at each meeting. If your child is not able to come or is sick from school please email me at sarahahyde@gmail.com or call my cell phone 414-708-4963. We want to assure that we know who is with us in case of an emergency and when you come pick your child up.  

Typical meeting: 2:45 – 4:15

2:45 - 3:15 snack and discuss theme
3:15 - 4:00 build (by yourself or with a partner)
4:00 - 4:15 clean up

Photos: Occasionally, we'll be sending in photos of our Lego creations to Lego Club Cool Creations P.O. Box 1308 Enfield, CT 06083-1308. Please see attached RELEASE FORM to participate in these photos.

T-Shirts: T-shirts are available for purchase again this year. LEGO Club will split the cost with you. Please Note: *Shirts designating participation in a club or activity may be worn over the school uniform and tucked in on designated club dates. Club shirts may NOT be worn to school mass. (*St. Dominic Hand Book).  

Suggestions for home:  Use LEGOs to count, sort and measure with. Buy small starter kits so your child can follow directions. Challenge your children to build anything that will keep them focused on finishing a task. Go online at www.LEGOclub.com for other family ideas.  

PLEASE REMEMBER to send a note with your child so the teacher knows where he or she is going after school on LEGO club days.
