  Yellow Ribbon Ministry

Intention Light graces the Yellow Ribbon Ministry Wall

Custom made brass bracket holds a glass-encased candle that will burn for 7 days.  For a $25 donation, you can have the weekly intention lamp lit in honor of a family member, grandchildren or a relative serving in the armed forces or you may honor any one of our fine veterans. The $25 donation will be placed in the Yellow Ribbon Ministry account to cover the cost of candles and for ongoing expenses for this ministry. The name of the intentions will be listed in the weekly bulletin.  Contact Barb Schenauer  262.781.3480 Ext. 242 to schedule your request.

The Yellow Ribbon Ministry was formed to recognize and provide spiritual support  for our parishioners who are serving on active duty in the military. We offer every military member a blessing at a pre-determined St. Dominic Mass, a picture of the military member on our Yellow Ribbon Ministry wall, our prayers and spiritual support, periodic updates to the parish and sponsorship of the prayer intention light.

Those serving or their families voluntarily supply information to us.  An updated list with addresses of the soldiers and  their current deployment will be maintained. Please keep these men and women in your prayers.  Parishioners serving on active duty or their families may call John or Patty Grum, 262-781-2878 or Tom or Joan Zymaneck, 262-783-4236 to be included.

The Yellow Ribbon Ministry salutes the men and women who have served our country.  We thank you.  We also thank the brave and strong military members currently serving our country from St. Dominic Parish.  May they feel our prayers with them as they perform their duty.
Gregory Cigich
Gregory Cigich wishes to convey his heartfelt thanks to St. Dominic Parish and School for your support, prayers, and letters as he continues his airman's studies here in the U.S.A.

He is proud to honor the American Flag which flies over our school.

God bless all those who serve in support and defense of our country.

Please continue to pray for our nation and military.

Second Lt. Daniel Stein

Dan is a Lieutenant in the Air Force. He began his active duty assignment in May 2008 and is currently stationed at Travis Air Force base near Fairfield, CA. He routinely flies missions to Europe, the Middle East and the Far East as well as bases throughout the U.S. Most of his trips are from a few days to a little over a week and his missions include troop transport, equipment mobility and aero medical evac flights to and from Ramstein, Germany. He is in the midst of a two month deployment in Southwest Asia and will be returning to his home base at Travis at the end of November. Dan is engaged and will be getting married in Milwaukee on June 30, 2012. ~ Jerry and Ann Stein

Lt. Kurt Wegner
As of June I have been assigned as a Maintenance Control Officer of 64th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, FT Carson, CO.  I act as the command and control element for the Maintenance Support Teams and supervise over 300 vehicles in all scheduled (oil changes) and unscheduled (flat tire) maintenance activities.  I am responsible for ensuring shop sections are working at or near capacity, managing backlogs, efficiently requisitioning parts, and effectively using personnel and equipment with the ‘fix it forward, replace it rear’ mentality.  This amazing opportunity is helping me grow as a leader in the US Army.  I would like to thank everyone for their support while we were deployed last year in Iraq, and thank you for keeping us in your prayers for those that are currently deployed. Kurt Wegner 1LT, OD Maintenance Control Officer

Lt. Commander Gregory Klos

Lt. Commander Gregory Klos: Greg Klos is now the Deputy Director of Special Operations in the Mediterranean Theatre. He did take some time off to visit with us and show us some of their favorite places around Europe on our recent visit. Greg will be in Italy until June 2012. In March 2012, he should be receiving his new assignment. Hopefully it will be a little closer to home. Greg is now a Lieutenant Commander. ~ Mike and Deb Klos

Second Lt. Joseph Kristbaum

Second Lt. Joseph Kristbaum: Joe and Erin have recently sold their home in Florida in preparation for their new assignment in Ohio next summer.

Joe is leaving for a 6 month tour to Afghanistan near the end of November 2011. His responsibilities are classified, more to come on his return. During Joe’s deployment, his wife, Erin, will be coming home to Wisconsin with their son, Joey. We are very much looking forward to having them home for the Holidays. It appears that both our boys will be deployed to the same base this winter We ask that both our boys are in your prayers! ~ John and Colleen Kristbaum
Jason Kristbaum
Jason has just returned from a 6 week TDY in Spain where he provided Air support to missions in the European theatre. He is scheduled for a January deployment to Afghanistan. Jason's wife, Kelly, has been studying at Marquette to become a Physician's Assistant and will complete her studies this upcoming spring.

Corporal Andy Orgovan

It is with much thanks and gratitude to our Lord that we are happy to report that at the end of September Andy returned from his final deployment from the middle east. He has been promoted to Sergeant. As of Nov. 4, 2011, Andy's tour of active duty with the Marines came to an end! He was back in Wisconsin on November 5! We are truly thankful to all those who have kept Andy in their prayers over the last 4 years (yes, it's been four years!). I know for a fact it has made a difference. We will continue to pray for those wonderful men and women from our community who show their devotion to God and country in the military. May our Lord continue to protect them in mind, body, and spirit and be with them in the hour of need. ~ Andrew and Nora Orgovan

2nd Lieutenant Edward "Jack" Weisse

Jack Weisse is a new YRM member. He graduated in May 2010 from Marquette and AF-ROTC, married and entered active duty. Jack spent 6 months training in cyber warfare at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. Jack emailed, “Currently I am the Operations Officer in the 39th Communications Squadron located at Incirlik AB, Turkey. We provide technical support to several NATO stations throughout Turkey. My wife, Katie, and I are stationed here for two years. Given our location, we look forward to visiting the early church history while here”. ~ Edward and Stephanie Weisse

Dear Heavenly Father,
In every age, You call certain persons to defend the human family from oppression, tyranny, and evil. Since our founding as a nation "conceived in liberty," countless American men and women have stepped forward to defend our country and many others from aggressors, and to liberate those held captive.

Today we revere all our veterans: those who rest in honored glory, those who still suffer from the wounds of war, and those who, with us, enjoy the blessing of living in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O God, thank You for the selfless sacrifice of these veterans and of their families. Help us to remember them, to pray for them, and to care for them. Please bring all our departed veterans into Your Kingdom, and console their families with Your unfailing love. Please heal our wounded veterans through the power of Your Holy Spirit, and give to all our veterans the satisfaction of having served You even as they have served us.

Thank You for Your gifts of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. May we fight to keep these rights available to all. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
