An Overview of the Marriage Preparation Process

  • Make an initial contact with Susan McNeil, Pastoral Associate for Human Concerns and Family Ministry.  Susan will have a series of questions for you, and will talk with you about your desired wedding date and time.

  • Contact your Presider, and the Director of Liturgy and Music.

  • Meeting with the Deacon, and completion of the FOCCUS Communication Inventory.

  • Contact the Marriage Sponsor Couple assigned to work with you, and attend the five session program with your sponsor couple. This program will be facilitated by your Marriage Sponsor Couple in their home, and is designed to discuss topics important in the building of a strong Sacramental marriage.

  • Compile and complete paperwork.

  • Meet again with your Presider and with the Director of Liturgy and Music to complete the  wedding liturgy planning.

Marriage Resources

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops offer an online resource For Your Marriage.  This Web site is an initiative that offers guidance and resources in order to promote, strengthen, sustain, and restore marriages. Consider subscribing to the For Your Marriage monthly e-mail newsletter. The newsletter includes a variety of features and articles related to Catholic marriage and parenting.

The emphasis of Worldwide Marriage Encounter is on communication between husband and wife, who spend a weekend together away from the distractions and the tensions of everyday life, to concentrate on each other.  It is not a retreat, nor a marriage clinic, nor group sensitivity.  It's a unique approach aimed at revitalizing Christian Marriage.
There are weekends scheduled in our area.  Find out more...
