Swing a Hammer For Habitat!

As you may (or may not) know, Habitat for Humanity Waukesha County is opening a HomeStore in downtown Waukesha. A HomeStore, like Milwaukee Habitat’s ReStore, is a retail store that sells new and very gently used building materials to the general public, keeping tons of construction “waste” out of landfills each year and raising thousands of dollars to build more Habitat homes. The donations have been pouring in and the grand opening is right around the corner, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to the retail space to get it up and running. If you’ve been looking for a chance to swing a hammer – or swipe a drywall knife, or use power tools, or roll a paint roller – Now’s your chance!  Habitat is in need of as many volunteers
as we can get in the next few weeks. If you can donate your time, please call Dawn Heller at 262-271-8833.

Are You Ready For Spring?

Interfaith Senior Programs is gearing up for the spring season and needs your help! Interfaith is in need of individuals, families, business and congregation groups for the 2008 Spring Ahead Day. Come help a neighbor in Waukesha County on Saturday, May 3 (an alternative date may be arranged if needed). Volunteers will help by raking leaves, outdoor window washing, cleaning gutters, installing screens, trimming bushes, etc.  If you or a group would like to volunteer, please contact Carrie Lee Anderson
at 262-549-3348, Ext. 228.

Desperate Need For Volunteer Drivers!

Help deliver a hot noon meal to homebound individuals once a week or twice a month who are unable to fix a meal for themselves.  There is a critical need in Brookfield, Butler, Hartland, Menomonee Falls, Muskego, Sussex and Waukesha. Individuals, friends, couples, people even help over their lunch time, picking up 8 to 10 meals, delivering them and returning the food carrier and back to work. Mileage reimbursement provided so call 262-548-7829 remembering that going the extra mile has its own reward.

Access to Reliable Used Cars Needed!

St. Dominic – SVDP occasionally (1 to 2 times a year) comes across clients in need of a reliable car. The people we serve might have had a car stolen or currently have a car that has become too expensive to keep running. Yet they need transportation for work or family.  Do you have a car sitting unused that you would be willing to store until such a need
arises? Call 262-781-3480, Ext. 228 and leave a message. Thanks!
