Fr. Dave Reith

Pastor

Serving St. Dominic Parish since: 2004, 4th pastor of St. Dominic Parish (2004-present)

Background and Experience:
I was born in Milwaukee and graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary Grade School in West Allis in 1964. My seminary training included graduating from De Sales Prep Seminary High School in 1968, St. Francis de Sales College in 1972, and St. Francis Seminary in 1976, with a Master of Divinity degree.

Archbishop William E. Cousins ordained me a priest on June 5, 1976 in St. Frances Cabrini Church, West Bend, where I served as a transitional deacon.

Previous assignments:

  • Associate Pastor as a newly ordained priest at St. Mary’s, Burlington
  • Intern year as Assistant Chancellor, Chancery Office
  • Chaplain and Head of the Religion Department at St. Joseph High School, Kenosha
  • Associate Pastor at Blessed Sacrament, Milwaukee
  • Pastor of St. Mary’s Parish, Burlington
  • Currently, Pastor of St. Dominic Parish, Brookfield

Service to the Archdiocese:

  • Several terms on the Priest Senate, the Council of Priests, including as Moderator, and the College of Consultors
  • Dean of District Three
  • Currently, member of the Priest Placement Board
  • Currently, a supervisor for Seminarian Interns at St. Dominic Parish
  • Currently, a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Francis Seminary

Looking back over my twelve years in seminary education and training, I have many fond memories of a seminary that did a good job introducing us to the vision and teachings of the II Vatican Council. Especially, on the graduate level at St. Francis Seminary, I feel we were blessed with some wonderful professors who helped give us the skills necessary to be effective and successful in the challenges of pastoral ministry. We were recipients of good training, especially, in the areas of biblical, sacramental and moral theology.

Personal Statement

When I think about it, I spent twelve years studying and in formation at St. Francis Seminary and the last thirty-one years as a priest as of June 5, 2007. So, for the past forty-three years, discernment of a priestly vocation, preparation and formation and the joy of serving the Lord and the Church as a Priest have all been part of my vocation, my calling, in life.

I am truly grateful for the many blessings I have come to experience in the work of priestly ministry. At times I am asked, “If you could turn the clock back and do it again, would you?” My answer has always been a heartfelt YES!

I have been blest with wonderful assignments over the years. I am a better priest today because of the many good people, parishioners, students, colleagues in ministry, etc. who have influenced me over the years and have truly revealed the face of Christ to me.

My present assignment as Pastor of the faith community of St. Dominic continues to be a daily source of blessing in my life. Sometimes, I simply wonder if I deserve to be so blest? I feel very fortunate to be part of a team of faith-filled, talented and generous colleagues who serve as members of the parish and school staffs.

The spirit of this wonderful faith community is something I inherited from the three dedicated pastors, who generously served here before me. As I presently see it, one of the most sacred parts of my shepherding ministry here is to continue sharing with so many people the responsibility of helping to build up and sustain the spirit and vitality the Body of Christ that is bonded together by parish membership.  Saint Dominic, pray for us!

Fr. Quintin Heck

quintin.heck@stdominic.net

Associate Pastor

Serving St. Dominic Parish since: 2004

Background and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts, Cardinal Stritch University
  • Bachelor of Arts, St. Meinrad College Seminary
  • Master of Divinity, Mt. St. Mary’s University Seminary

Personal Statement

My name is Fr. Quintin Heck, I am currently serving as Associate Pastor of St. Dominic Congregation. I have been with the community for the past 3 years. I have had one other priestly assignment in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee before coming to St. Dominic’s in the Spring of 2004.

Serving as Associate Pastor I share in all areas of pastoral and liturgical life within the parish and school community. Serving this community of faith has been my most rewarding experience in ministry. The foundation in parish leadership that I have developed here over these past few years will continue to be an invaluable part of my priestly ministry. It is my hope to continue that journey with this community for many years to come.

It has been my deepest joy and pleasure to be part of this community.  Over the past few years, I have seen this parish grow in its care for others, in its outreach, in its understanding of justice. We have added more and more different outreach opportunities, and each time I have come to this community asking for help, assistance, funds or labor, you have responded abundantly. Our Lenten Outreach programs have grown bigger, with the whole parish embracing the project. I am so grateful to be a part of this community, and am constantly astounded by your generosity.

The great news is that there are lots of opportunities for parishioners of all ages to get involved – as individuals and as families – for as much or as little time as you have to offer. Please join us!

Timothy Benson

tim.benson@stdominic.net

Director of Liturgy and Music

Serving St. Dominic Parish since:  1983; June 2008 will mark 25 years of service.

Background and Experience:

The very first time Tim was the organist for a Mass was on Easter Sunday when he was 10 years old, and since then, it's been a nearly unbroken chain of musical service to the Church. Tim has directed student and adult choirs since the 70s and in the early 80s spent time pursuing graduate degrees in musical composition (Cambridge University, King's College, and the Royal School of Church Music in London) and in choral and orchestral conducting (Wisconsin Conservatory of Music) under the mentorship of Margaret Hawkins. Tim's honors include being chosen as one of the auditioned conductors at the Saranac Lake convention of the American Choral Directors' Association in 1985 where he trained with conductors including Gregg Smith (Gregg Smith Singers), Margaret Hillis (Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Robert Page (Cleveland Symphony Orchestra), and Robert Shaw (Atlanta Symphony Orchestra). Since 1994, Tim has served on the conducting staff of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra as the assistant conductor of the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus. He's often seen before concerts of the MSO leading "Behind the Notes", lively give-and-take sessions that discuss the works being performed at that evening's concert. His role with the orchestra also sees him writing occasional program notes, and Tim is responsible for developing the orchestra's educational materials used in schools throughout southeast Wisconsin as resources for teachers before concerts their students will attend. When he's not involved in music making, either at St. Dominic or with the Milwaukee Symphony, you'll likely find Tim in a helicopter in the skies over the area. He holds both Commercial and CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) helicopter ratings and would rather fly than eat and just a glance gives you an idea of how much he likes to eat!

Personal Statement:

My involvement with my parish family here at St. Dominic from providing music for weddings and funerals to sacramental celebrations, seasonal devotions, and weekend Masses is my greatest joy. I treasure the enduring friendships I've made here, and am beyond thankful for the opportunity to worship with you as we all help one another on our way to sanctity. "When in our music God is glorified and adoration leaves no room for pride, it is as though the whole creation cried: 'Alleluia!'" God bless you all!

My years here at St. Dominic’s have been filled with growth in many ways. I have seen the parish grow in numbers. I have grown numerous ways in my profession.
