To seek Christ, Know Christ and Become Christ, each one for the sake of all

  Parish Council

A parish council is a group of people chosen from and by the parish community, who together with the parish priest(s) guide, oversee and temporal affairs as the community attempts to fulfill the mission of the church.  The St. Dominic Parish Council typically meets the second Thursday of each month, August – June in the Parish Center at 7:00 p.m. Please consult the Parish calendar for the latest dates - all are welcome to attend.

The purpose of the council is pastoral planning. The focus of the parish council is on the mission, not on management. The council fulfills its purpose through a variety of functions.

  • It continuously examines the various aspects of the life of the parish in light of the parish mission statement.

  • It assesses parish needs, determines priorities and options to meet those needs with available resources, and evaluates programs and services designed to meet parish needs.

  • It weighs issues and proposes practical conclusions to the pastor about them

  • It develops policies that serve to carryout the parish mission statement.

A Parish Council is… Prayerful, Pastoral, Representative, Discerning, Prophetic, Empowering, and Collaborative. - Taken from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Parish Council Manual

Lord Jesus, We thank you for your presence in our lives and in our church. We ask that as we seek your will for the Future of St. Dominic, through Vision 2012, that you send your Holy Spirit to guide and direct our path. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Our family moved here from Rhode Island 13 years ago, and we’ve been parish members ever since. My wife, Jeanette, and I have 3 boys, Kyle, Josh and Tony who attended the CFC program. Over the years we have been involved in numerous parish and community activities including teaching CFC, the festival committee, teen work camps, Knights of Columbus, Cub Scouts and coaching baseball, basketball and football. In my day job, I am the SVP of Sales for INFO-PRO Mortgage Services. I feel truly blessed to be part of a warm and vibrant parish, and I look forward to the opportunity to serve on the Parish Council.

My husband, Tom, and I joined St. Dominic's Parish in 1982 when we first moved to this area from out of state. We have 2 sons, Tom and Jim, who graduated from St. Dominic's school. I have been active in various ministries and volunteer activities over the years. I am now retired from nursing. At present, I am a Eucharistic Minister and do home visits. I also volunteer at St. Rose's school downtown, which I really enjoy---working with the children. After much reflection, I decided to accept the nomination to become part of your Parish Council. I hope to be an effective member and work for the common good of our parish.

I have been a member of St. Dominic’s community since I was baptized here. I attended and graduated from the day school and even after college, when I moved into Milwaukee, I still maintained my membership. I moved back into the Brookfield area in 1995 where I presently reside. I have taught 8th grade CFC and I bake for the St. Ben’s meal program. I work for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – St. Joseph, where I am the program director for the school of radiologic technology. I am very proud to be a part of this faith community, and I am looking forward to serving on Parish Council.
